چکیده
It is an important issue to investigate within a non-perturbative regularization scheme whether the quartic self-coupling and Yukawa coupling of the fermion-Higgs sector of the Standard model (StM) remain relatively small when increasing the bare couplings to very large values. For this it is desirable to construct a lattice fermion-Higgs model with a realistic fermion content. A naive transcription of the continuum lagrangian with one SU(2) doublet leads to the large number of 16 doublets on the lattice because of the species doubling phenomenon. There are two proposals which allow to reduce this large number of mass-degenerate SU(2) doublets to one: The mirror fermion model [1] and the reduced staggered fermion model [2]. The mirror fermion model is discussed in ref. [3]. In this contribution we use the reduced staggered formalism [4,5]. The basic idea here is to couple the two reduced staggered flavors to the Higgs field. For this purpose it is convenient to introduce the 4×4 matrix fields [2]

After a brief discussion of the promise and limitations of the lattice technique, I review lattice QCD results for several quantities of phenomenological interest. These are: matrix elements for heavy-to-light meson decays, leptonic decay constants f B and f D , the parameters B B and B K for neutral B and K meson mixing respectively, the strong coupling constant, light quark masses and the lig...

We explain why compact U (1) confines and how to fix it. We show that plaquettes of negative trace carry most of the confinement signal in compact SU (2). We show how to perform noncompact gauge-invariant simulations without auxiliary fields. We suggest a way to simulate fermions without doublers.

We consider quenched QCD on a 16 × 40 lattice at β = 6.0 . We give preliminary numerical results for the lattice gluon propagator evaluated both in coordinate and momentum space. Our findings are compared with earlier results in the literature at zero momentum. In addition, by considering nonzero momenta we attempt to extract the form of the propagator and compare it to continuum predictions fo...

From an accurate determination of the inter-quark potential, one can study the running coupling constant for a range of R-values and hence estimate the scale Λ MS. Detailed results are presented for SU (3) pure gauge theory from a study of a 36 4 lattice at β = 6.5.
